What Miata cams fit on the Protege? i found some good HKS ones
Will Miata cam gears fit on the Protege?
Has anyone had any experience with the Cork Sport exhaust systems?
Is this a good quote for a Turbo setup:
What kinda of power should I expect?

    Turbo Kit-$3531.40
Includes- manifold, Aluminum I/C piping, T3/GT40 turbo, Intercooler, Tial BOV, Tial 50mm wastegate, couplers, fittings, oil feed line, return line, downpipe

    MicroTec ECU-$1290
    wiring-$400
    Tuning-$200 1st hour/ $100 ea after

    Parts/Fab TOTAL $5421.40

what year protege? assuming you have a BP, if its 97+ it'll have solid lifters (same as miata), if not it'll have HLAs. I don't think the HLAs make it impossible to run miata cams, but I'm not sure what effect it has. Also, IIRC only 99+ miata cams show gains.

Sorry my bad, the car is a 94LX 5speed. I do still have hydraulic lifters but I am trying to find some cheap reliable solid lifter upgrades. Got any ideas?

cheap, reliable, and upgrade generally don't go together. the least expensive way to go about it would be to take the whole head off of a donor miata, measure the lash, use the shims you can and buy new ones where you need to.

          miata head swap
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

              a machineshop can fix that

i am a little rusty in the manifold alingment. but iirc the turbo manifold for the miata bolted in a pro, and i would assume that the intake will follow suit

there was a thread about this, the intake manifold point the passenger side, and the ports are way off. You can redrill, but thats a bit extreme IMO.

Best thing to do is swap valves and **** into your protege head as mentioned.

OK i will check out the head swap idea today. What is the opinion on that turbo setup I mentioned up top? Or should I just fabricate one myself?

So I have a 98 protege ES (1.8BP) so I would see gains if I swapped the stock cams for a set of 99 miata cams?
                      Thanks for noticing me

yes, but not a lot, especially without other mods or tuning

you can see how the 99 ports dont match. I wish the head swapped... that would be easiest.
