yea, go to the yard, find a regular escort and swap the stabilizer bar onto your shift bar and put it back in.... oh and fill it with jb weld so it doesnt happen to the next one.... or the easy way w/o buying anything but jb weld, is to just sand the inside where the bushing fell from down, get the 3 minute jb fill it pull it back up and let it dry, then fil the top and bottom again after, i think i used 2 or 3 of the small cheap packs.....

Z shaped bracket from the underside makes my shifter happy. I also filled the gap where the old bushings were with window weld to keep the vibration down

I went the more "direct" method of re-attaching with the crappy arc welder.

i dont know why there are such elaborate repairs on this ... the issue is the rubber bond breaks between the shifter pivot housing and the locating arm .. ( i stole sock's pic to illustrate )

just clean it out .. push the pivot back into the housing and sink a couple screws one on each side into the rubber BUT NOT THE PIVOT ... 1/2" or less long self tapping screws ftw

i fixed it today, i just made a hole and stuck a bolt and a nut lol and it did the trick real well. havent thought about putting window weld in there yet but i might. i got other things to worry about right now, my ****ing car rolled down my lift and hit another car but there really isnt much dammage butthe ****icking lock is broken cuz the door doesn't close it just bounces back cuz i think the lock is in the close position

                          Bad idea
I did that and the nut eventually comes out cause of the vibration.
Weld the nut in place, even 1 tac weld will do it.

i had the screw threw the rubber fail on me when the inside of the busing broke off too, so then I welded nuts to it, the screws stripped out! so then i moved onto the newer solution

                            old way (last 2 years)

new way (has no imediate stresses and is very simple (KISS!)

nice it seems like this is quite common, or just real weak that people take these measures before it happens. ill weld the nut there so it stays there
