    Escort LX-E with KLZE

I decided not to go turbo a while back since my car has 250k plus miles on it. I contemplated on wether it was worth doing anything with it other than driving the wheels off. Then an old friend got in touch saying he had a KLZE he wanted to sell. Gave 900 for it and a new ACT street clutch. So started my hunt for mx3 stuff. Found a MX3GS on craigslist for 250 bucks. Now I'll be doing the swap. All I have left to do now is get some headers, timing bits, chip, and exhaust.

I'll use this first post for a price list and following posts with pics and descriptions.

      Sub'n to watch the progress.

Did you want this thread moved into the worklog section? Seems more appropriate(sp) there.

It may be kinda slow on progress for now. Three kids (2,7,14) with the two oldest playing baseball everyday but sunday leaves me little time.

Fine with me if it's moved. Since it's a swap, I didn't know which was more appropriate.

Headers came in and cleaned out the MX3. Filled up a garbage can of crap, boy was it nasty. Looks like some one hauled a bale of hay in the hatch.

So is the KL going in the scort or the mx3? Does the mx3 have power windows or manual seat belts?

KLZE is for the Escort, MX3 is the donor for everything else that is needed.

Think it's got power windows not sure on the belts.

not to thread jack or anything but. i recentlly decided not to re-boost the protege and go with a kl. my question is can i use the probe gt as a donor car? or is it better to just get a mx3 v6?

If you got a probe/mx6 the only parts that you use are the motor, tranni, ecu, maf. You'd still need the wiring harness, axles, crossmember, mounts, ect ect from the mx3. I say grab the mx3 and grab the motor, ecu and maf from a probe. The probe tranni IIRC has taller gears

actually you get more power keeping the mx3 ecu, and running the probe vaf when doing the swap. a member on PT did back to back dyno's on each ecu, and the mx3 one did a solid 6hp gain through the midrange.
