I was going to scrap the car, Ryan. When I got the big C I debated on wether to sell all my parts and scrap the car. But every time I would look at or drive my 91 GT, it just reminded me of how much fun this car is to drive. And I owe it to myself to complete the project. I'm not out of the woods yet. Next will be the trailing arms. It was either I scrap it or fix it; but fix it right. I decided to fix it right.
I'm still trying to figure out how to post pics upright using this effin' cell. I think I got it.
So here is a pic of the plates welded on. Don't laugh at the welds; I'm still learning and my welder son has other priorities that I cannot wait for. After all, im back at the car six years later ... lol91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)

welding the thin sheet metal is a real chore. i give you respect for even trying. what matters is that the welds are solid and sealed from pin holes that will cause future issues.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

Hey everybody!
Yes still alive and kicking,I've been cancer free for a year now, things are looking up ... I am still working on my GT be it slowly but things are progressing. I'm still on the strut tower caps but I've progressed. I'm fed up of having this car in the garage so I'm getting in it so it can be completely done by spring.
As you can see I've media blasted the strut towers and have welded the first cap back in. Not complete but the jist of it is there.Last edited by Wilyb; 06-16-2017, 11:54 AM.91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for the kind words... the cancer hasn't come back, and nor has my other cancer...lol. Anyway, good riddance to her, I've got a better woman already...
Ok... so this epoxy adhesive is used to glue panels and SMC's together, whatever SMC means... It has very very small glass beads in it, but you can't really see them. these beads prevent the 2 metal pieces from touching each other and rubbing against each other as the parts twist / move while driving... historically this would cause the panels or sections to rust from rubbing against each other. I was able to spread the epoxy by hand with a latex gloves using my fingers. However, you can use a brush, it will work fine. The stuff is not too thick... just right actually. the hardener and the catalyst are divided and mix together inside the tip. You get 2 as of course they cannot be reused... forget using a hand caulking gun, its too slow. I had an air operated caulking gun, but had to ovalize the hole on the end cap since the tip of the tube is off centrer. the stuff doesnt harden like rock ; its seems pliable. I cut a piece off the cardboard I was using and could bend it. Here is a pic of the product:Last edited by Wilyb; 10-17-2017, 09:21 PM.91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)
