2wd also has prize money that the AWD class doesn't, in an effort to keep interest for the competitors. GRC would be a blast in an Escort, around 2000lbs and 220-250hp...
Sounds like 2WD's the way to go then. Watching the Civics run at Irwindale, it didn't seem like they were making all that much power- you could probably get away with running a healthy all-motor Escort and be competitive.

That Civic we built the cage in ran at Pike Peak rallycross this weekend and took 2nd both days---the Porsche 996 beat him by about 5 seconds at the end of the race or about a second a lap---the civic was about 8 seconds clear of the rest of the field---I'm hoping my escort can hang with the Porsche---
Small update---started mounting the aerocatch hoodpins.
I believe the Civic was dyno'd at 225hp at the wheels, on E85. It's a 2.0L with a Jackson supercharger, at post race weigh in, it was 2300lbs, his allowed min. was 2250lbs. How do I know this stuff, crewed for him over the weekend...
i haven't checked out this build in too long, drop me a PM about the global rallycross stuff for the 2WD setup. I started prepping the 323 for that last fall, it's been a slow go due to time but I pretty much have the formula planned for the build plan if you have any questions or want to bounce some ideas off of me.
Man time goes fast...I started plugging away again on the car---put the fiberglass doors on and new fenders to get the bodywork back to a "legal" design. Kind of looks like a cop car. Put the rear swaybar on---ended up having to weld the plates on to clear the mx3 arms, may have to make the mx3 arm swaybar mount double shear to support the load/center the rodend better over the bar. Found some thick mild steel for an exhaust flange---cut the hole with a holesaw---surprised the heck out me---hopefully it stays flat/doesn't warp.
looking good, havent checked this out in while. would love to see this finished

Thanks guys-by the way if anyone has $3.1 million I can borrow (long term) we can get these 4 cars---it's a hell of a deal---they're valued close to $4 million by themselves so we could save quite a bit!
They're legit---and those are the two cheap ones---the other two are 911r's---the flash gordon car is worth well over a million itself---we did a bunch of work on all of them except the 904---the shop next door had them for about a year or so and they left today---champagne all around!
