just cut it and box it, toyota guys do it all the time its probably stronger then heating and weakening the stock frame rails

today was a very productive day.
first i got the engine moved around and tied in place with various ropes and straps. then i installed both axles, and triple checked my measurements and clearances. then we went ahead and made the passenger side and drivers side upper mounts. they came out REALLY slick and they are extremely solid... the drivers side mount looks a little "complicated" because i wanted to keep the bracket for the battery tray.
all in all we ended up moving it less than 1" up and less than 1" forward. i could have moved it less (possibly not at all) if i had cut into the K frame.
unfortunately i forgot to put the memory card back in my camera this morning... so i dont have any new pics . i'll just have to take some extras tomorrow.
tomorrow it all comes back out for some final clearancing of the drivers side frame rail, then goes back in so we can build the crossmember and front/rear mounts. i am a little concerned about axle bind, but i will need to get it down on the ground before i can make a final assessment. worst case, i'll need to buy some RX7 ball joints and 3rd gen escort spindles.Last edited by therieldeal; 09-09-2009, 10:53 PM.Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. another very productive day!
the new crossmember and front/rear mounts are all but done. just need to pull everything apart again so we can finish the welding that couldn't be reached with the parts on the car.
tomorrow i need to install the oil pump back into the GTR motor, install the LSD in the transmission, and try to get everything bolted back together. this weekend will consist of finishing touches, fluids, and getting it running again.
