Both westpalmgt and hppdwn are making 350+ hp on stock pressure plates (clamp force and size specs for the V6 are comparible) and a 6 puck. My guess would be puck material defect or uneven mating surface. Though its just speculation till its apart.

i told him to use a v6 pressure plate and upgrade it, he told me 1800 pounds. the puck material looked fine, and the fw was resurfaced at the same shop i always use (he does great work).
so idfk

My ACT clutch needed some time to bed in, it slipped like crazy in the top 4 gears. Not wanting to go back into the !&^)(*%)*&#R_(&^)(*ing car again, I let it ride for a while. Pretty soon I had 3rd, then 4th, then after almost a month, it gripped solid and hasn't had a problem since. This is not normal, and we quickly realized that it was caused by oil getting on the disc when the rear mainseal let go. Although we ran all the parts through the washer when we redid that job, oil musta gotten into the friction material, just enough to make it slip for a while...got lucky and it's still fine a year later. If there's even the slightest chance your disc got oily at any point, maybe that's why it's slipping, and maybe it'll come back.
or maybe you're screwed and you need a better clutch...
there is no way that it got oily, the engine and trans are both fresh and clean... no oil leaks anywhere. i hosed it all down with brake cleaner, let it dry, and put it together.
i believe i have figured out a (somewhat expensive) backup plan, if this guy cant make it right.

just talked to the clutch guy. he's having a 2200# pressure plate drop shipped to me, and making another disc (all at no charge for now). he said we'll figure it all out once i get the new clutch installed and working.
i'm not sure how comfortable i am with "smoking" the clutch lol. if i destroy it he's not gonna be too happy when i send it back to him.

well after talking to him i finally found an application that will work. if his clutch sucks again i'll just go ACT. if his works it will be a much better deal. i'll be sure to let everyone know.
ACT 6 puck sprung hub = part number 6224207
ACT performance organic = part number 3000603
plus your stock BP flywheel and whatever pressure plate you want

just a dumb question but did they ship it to you in cosmoline grease? I have heard of companies doing that to prevent the metal parts from rusting, and once it sets in it takes some time to "burn" down the affected areas.
it had a light coating of oil on it just like all pressure plates but like i said i hosed it down with brake cleaner. no oil on this thing.

whats the stock pressure plate rated on on the toyota this goes on, maybe it just needs a heavier one due to the added weight? i just did my stage 3 clutch and lite flywheel, i already sorta want a harder pressure plate...lol...i can see thatll be getting replaced again when ever i do something with the lower end over winter....
so i lucked out, the machine shop was able to salvage the lightened stock flywheel that was in the car last year (the spec 3+ disc ate it up pretty badly).
the trans isnt THAT much heavier... maybe 100 pounds at the most counting all the heavy duty mount brackets etc. so its the equivalent of having a skinny bitch in the passenger seat... not going to affect the clutch lol
