Started working on the harness today, haven't swapped the pins yet, but I've been busy extending and soldering wires. So far the first test fit went well, just have to extend the VAF harness like I suspected, it has to be about 12" longer lol I didn't realize how long the friggen harness was, the majority of it is inside the cabin now lol

finally looked into the pin swap, looks dead simple, just follow wire colors lol.

Well the engine harness is taped back up in fire-resistant electrical tape (idk if all electrical tape is or not?). So I can install that along with the charging harness I believe, I still think the way I routed my power wire to the alt/starter won't work to well, so I'll have to re-do that lol.-Jack

Did a rough install fitment today, and things seem to be pretty good. All the plugs reach, and the VAF harness is extended to a perfect length as well.
I have the diagnostics box mounted on the line for the charcoal canister with the harness zip tie to the line so far.
Figured out I have to tape more of the harness together by the thermostat area to clean it up a bit too, has a few small harnesses just sitting aside one another, when they could be wrapped up.
After the wiring is done 100% in the engine bay, I can finish my battery install, since the 0 gauge wire is sitting in the passengers seat lol, got to run that under the carpet and into the trunk...then pick up a 0 gauge fuse and holder, then hook up a battery to the fuse holder and ground...and see if she'll crank!
Hoping to have the engine harness (not the fender harnesses, since they don't need to be finished to run the car afaik) done this week, along with the battery install. I'm just using a spare battery for now, so it's not going to be the future dry/gel cell-Jack

Harness installed, idk if there's any differences between the first and 2nd pic here, I took 2 pictures of a reason lol, just can't remember why.
Also installed the clutch line bracket I finally found lol
nice and short charging harness lol
intercooler piping is all cut, cleaned, and ready for some beads

Any idea if I can supply power to the starter via a cable from the alternator?
The alternator will be getting power from the fuse box.
Normally the cars battery harness splits off at the battery and runs to the starter to supply power that way, but my battery is in the trunk so running another wire that long back to the starter is a bit unnecessary in my mind.-Jack

The main power wire to the starter needs to be a big one right off the battery. As for the small wire... on my friends EGT I made a push button start because his ignition switch (key) would no longer start it. So with the key forward and a push of a button it starts now. I ran a 30a inline fuse off the battery, to a push button rated @ 30a to the the starter where the small wire goes (this wire is basically the low amp remote wire that engages the starter to do it's job). This is also a way to bypass a faulty neutral safety switch, or just to simply for the hell of it have a push button start.
As for the piping you have, if whoever is welding it for you could weld it without burning holes through it, if you have some aluminum rod you could weld some beads on. That's how mine was done.Last edited by 93_EGT; 03-10-2011, 07:27 PM.?
