Well I recently acquired a heavily modified 93 Mercury Tracer wagon from another member on this board (wgnths) due to it being in an accident.
Luckily the damage is minor and the car will be drivable with minimal work, so I have decided to keep the car for a spare instead of scrapping the shell and keeping the parts. As a result of this I plan to return it to a more comfortable sleeper that will haul the wife and kids and draw less attention to itself.
Plans will include:
Downgrading to a VJ20 GTX turbo setup or something slightly bigger that will still allow me to have P/S and A/C. I was thinking about a T25-T28 BB from an SR20 would fit the bill nicely if it will allow the use of A/C.
Installing a N/A intake with the Kia upper plenum and functioning VICS
Downgrading from the 17" wheels to something in either a 15 or 16" with a nice offset in a Bronze or Gunmetal color.
Downgrading to a rear drum brake setup
Stock rear bumper and maybe an EGT front bumper with some EGT side skirts and Civic hatch spoiler
Removing the Carbon Fiber hood and installing the stock hood.
A smaller intercooler that will fit behind a stock bumper
Installing A/C.
The hatchback will more then likely be getting an MZR swap from the wrecked mazda 3 I got, but I am thinking to sell the 2.3 and buy a used 2.5 from a fusion to go in its place with some bolt-on parts and call it a day on the engine department and some new K-sports.
So for anyone looking for a Custom one-off Full Race forward facing SS turbo manifold with T3 flange and external wastegate with a T3/T4 turbo........ it will soon be up for sale

Pulled the remaining part of the engine and transmission from the hatch back today, and pulled the engine and transmission from the 3 as well. From the looks of things the 2 transmissions are completely different in some ways.
The rear case of the 3 has a different setup for the frame rail mount, the cable shift mechanism is also mounted next to it and the rear engine mount is located where the rod shifter would normally go on a BG. The axles are a larger diameter as well and have a bolt that goes in the hub side to hold it in place rather then a nut.
The good news is that if a BG rear case was fitted to the transmission, and the 3 motor mount is removed, a BG motor mount can be bolted on in the same manner and the cable shifter is removed. The place where the BG rod shifter normally would go has a plug in it, like a freeze plug and the part where the stud for the stationary rod would go just needs a tap run in it. Swap out the diff for a BG one to run BG axles and I think this is the solution the guy in PR used to mount that MZR in his 323. The BP jack shaft could be used on the MZR block with an adapter plate as well.
Looks like I may use my case with Ferdi's plate mod in the wagon and my new Mfactory LSD for the MZR swap.

New development today. Car smokes like crazy and runs rough so I decided to do a compression check on it today.

So the engine is dead and needs a rebuild. Not really too happy about this.

maybe you can be the guy to confirm this. I heard that the bellhousing pattern of the mzr is the same or similar to the f series motors. Here is a pic of the MZR transmission. I dont think it is the same as the F engines, since I asked Jinx before for a picture of the FS bellhousing and its not the same, and the starter is in a different spot. Yes the L and F engines are closely related but thats something they dont share, unless the F2 or FE3 have a different pattern than an FS.
The starter is in the opposite side on the transmission I think due to the MZR having the intake and exhaust reversed from the other engines. Keeping the exhaust heat away from the starter.

F series & MZR do not have anything close to the same bellhousing pattern
