    Dynoed 2.5inch civic intake

I went back to the dyno to see if the civic intake I purchased was worth any hp over the 3 inch weapon R intake I was previously using.
The shop I usually go to couldn't squeeze me in. So I went to the guy that dyno tunes my mustang.
Anyway we loaded the car on the dyno and made a pull, boy was I dissapointed only 136.58 hp and 122.78 tq. I showed the dyno operator what the car made the day before and i also told him about the intake change.
We decided to back off on the fuel pressure since the car had a smaller intake tube. After messing with that for a couple of pulls the best we could get out of the car was 139.49 hp and 123.32 tq.This was a considerable loss from the 142.3 hp 126.0 tq from the previous day.
I hate I didn't bring my 3inch intake tube with me so I slap it back on right there on the dyno .
I asked the dyno operator could the two dynos be that much different. But he said as long as the other guy was using a dynojet (which he was) the numbers shouldn't be that much off.

I guess my theory was grossly miscalculated.
But then I thought since It was 2 different days and two different dynos my information could somewhat be inconclusive.I dunno.
I guess the 2.5 intake isn't going to work on my motor, maybe it will work on some else's.
I do know this, I couldn't get home fast enough to take that thing off and put the car back the way it was.

Heres the dyno sheet for everyone to scrutinze.

Is it 2.5" from the throttle body to the MAF and 3" from the MAF to the filter? If not that's what you need to do.

Also measure the inner diameter of the 2.5" tube.

I would try this setup and then try a full 3" setup and I'm sure the 2.5"/3" hybrid will yield better results. Try this test on the same day. Leave the fuel pressure at 40-42psi when vaccuum is disconnected.

being that it was 2 different dynos, i think the results are pretty useless...

I agree. He needs to test them on the same day on the same dynometer.

especially since the 142 is awfully high for your list of modifications, it leads me to believe that possibly your friend's shop may be inflating your numbers a bit...

Different day + different dyno = useless for comparison.

ahhhh, i see! where would i get one of these adjustable fuel pressure regulators? i have a 93 escort gt, but i put the protege BP fuel pressure relief valve on...thought i'd mention that due to the fact they were a bit different from EGT-BP to Protege BP.

is it from a honda civic? because i remember hearing about that being swapable with some minor mods...unless im on crack.

                    thanks.

You won't need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator until you've got some serious mods. It's a cheap way to get more fuel, without having to go with larger injectors and/or fuel computers.

well what kind of mods would i need? i already have the pacesetter 4-2-1 headers, 2.5 inch exhaust, custom bent 2.5inch intake with the rx-7 VAF, taylor made 8mm wires, NGK platinum plugs, P&P intake manifold and throttle body. not to mention a functioning hood scoop. im eventually going to bump my timing, but not till i can get a hold of a dyno for proper tuning. and i wanted to tune the fuel pressure since you guys have been talking about it...for when i do my timing.

                        thanks

Dude, why haven't I seen you? Where do you live? I'd like to see your car. Get that exhaust cam, a cam gear and lets head to DL Motorsports in Burlington and do some tuning. You have a similar set-up as me, but you have a few more mods, so technically you should be 125whp or more......

haha. ya, i just joined clubprotege like a week ago. ya, i've only owned THIS egt for about 7 months, i had an accident with it unfortunately, so i got the whole thing re-painted and im currently putting things back together. so your in Burlington eh, thats around 2 1/2 hours from my place, i live in barrie. but for sure i'd wanna hit up a dyno, i've never been able to get to one! it sucks! so im tuning EVERYTHING by ear and feel. i was going to get one of those Gtech Pros...but i dunno...i'd rather spend that one a sneaky pete nitrous system for my car haha.

but man, add me to msn if you want. X_EGT_EVO_X@msn.com

i have pics on my comp, i just don't want to post them, haha.
