    VAF variable resistance

I took apart my RX7 VAF that I was about to put in my car and decided to play around with it a little since I am building an AFC and I could use this VAF for demo purposes before it went in my car.

Anyways, what I did is connect and ohmeter across the pins that connect to the sweeper brush inside the VAF. To my surprise, once the door was opened past 1/3 of the way, the increase in resistance no longer seemed to be linear as the door was opened further.

So ... either some of the circuitry inside the VAF has oxidized/gone bad, or the increase in resistance seen at the pins of the VAF is not supposed to be linear as the flapper door is opened from fully closed to fully open.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks in advance
