I need some help people!

i'm having difficulty finding a tranny for my 93 dohc LX, is the tranny from the '97 Kia Sephia the same as far as axles and all that?


Please let me know if you have any knowledge of this and not just speculation.

if you're having problems finding a tranny for your pro dohc, look for 91-96 escort gts or mercury tracer LTS, you could even swap in a sohc tranny from a pro, just the gearing would be a bit longer n so forth

as for the kia, i know the engine codes match up, but i dont know if its a G series tranny, try the search button, someone may have researched it before.

People say it's a G, but no one knows for sure.

You might have a problem with that one because the speedo could be electronically driven, whereas the 1st gen Proteges use a mechanical system (cable). The speedo gear can be changed though. Just do your homework before you buy the tranny.

i found one for my car, just had to pay a little more for it.
i know about the egt fitments, that's what my engine came out of!

out of curiosity, why not just get your tranny rebuilt? Level 1 makes a heavy duty kit for it and a good shop could build you a bullet proof transmission. Just curious.

Yes the kia tranny will work. The Kia axles are beefier than the mazda's. You can handle sh*t loads of power.

EDIT: btw the kia motor is also a BP. Same tranny as the LX or EGT but the Axles are supposed to be heavier.
