Did you make sure the thermostat went in in the correct way when you replaced it? It's possible to put it in backwards.

i put it in the same way it came out spring facing in you would have to read the entire post to get other info

i got it from advanced auto parts it overheats with thermostat in but not with it out i dont get what the problem could be anyone think it could be a headgasket?

the fan dose go on when you do the self test thing

the only engine i can buy that is local is $500 for a 30k engine

try a thermostat from ford. aftermarket thermostats suck for these cars.

its your thermostat iMHO, when we swapped in a new motor we replaced the stat with a new one and didn't get 5 mins down the road till it got sooo hot. took it out and no prob. we went to the dealership instead of NAPA for the replacement and no problems since.

ok but i get smokeing from head would that be all the oil burning off or steem from bad head gasket person i got car from said it sat for 2 months from not having a starter
