GTR/GTX what trannies can be used.

My buddy and i are both doing our gtx and gtr swaps. With he escort we were able to get his tranny right on to the GTX motor. But my stock 323 tranny wouldnt fit my motor. I could of sworn that i have heard it said here a million times that you can use the stock tranny? I guess i have to go buy a G series tranny? Also are G series tranny axles diffrent from the ones in my 323? I dont want to have to go buy axles aswell!

The F series tranny won't last long with that motor anyhow.

Why do you say you need a Gseries tranny? The bell housing are the same, the splines are the same, what was the problem that you had?
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

Im using the F on my 323 on a BP (same block)

Were you trying to use the the BP flywheel?

If so thats where your issue is, you would need to use the B6 f/w and starter. But I would not advise using the B6 f/w and clutch, im buring up mine on a n/a BP

too bad they dont make a decent clutch set for the B6

As said above, if you are wanting to use the SOHC tranny with the GTX motor, you WILL need a fully custom clutch kit to be made. This is so the power of the GTX motor can be clamped on a smaller diameter clutch.

The one I had made in my old laser was a full face clutch plate with a 1900lb clamp pressure plate. It was designed on the 1.8L SOHC flywheel and Pressure plate, but the same can be done with the 1.6L stuff. You may want to bump the pressure up to say 2100lbs depending on what power you want to put out....but power and F series tranny doesn't mix.

If you keep a full face clutch, this will reduce the impact on the F series tranny and should help to make your diff last a little longer. The F's are weak, it's only matter of time before they brake if you like to have some fun.
