    Has anyone seen this ECU?

I'm going to be doing a BP DOHC swap in my 323 real soon. I'm trying to piece everything together and to make the long story short I bought a ecu from the J.Y. that has the code BPTC. What is the difference between that and the rest? This ECU was from an automatic Escort GT I'm not sure what year.

I hope someone knows the answer to this because I searched for a while. After reading the Groharlem Protege FAQ that kind of worried me same with the whole TPS thing but that is another story on its own.

    Thanks,
    James

On the ECU it says BPTC. I did a search on here, 323performance, and escort owners club and nothing. Its so strange to have an ECU in my hand that no one knows about. I'm just wondering if this would be a good canidate for my engine swap.

I'll see if I can read the number off my 91gt PCM later today. I don't have my 96gt PCM at the moment. They are both auto's.

Are you 100% sure it can't be BP10? Those stickers tend to age and fade and BP10 can easily seem like BPTC.

(I say this because I'm quite sure there is no such thing as a BPTC ECU.)

It may be the OBD2 ECU that came in the 96 EGTs. If it is, you can't use it with an OBD1 setup

they all pretty much look the same. the stand out difference is the side skirts. 94 and up they don't have a back lip that rides the rear fender. also, the 96 will have a Ford MAF, not the mazda vane.

can a manual and auto pcm be interchanged?

Also the interiors are different on the newer Escorts - once they got airbags the dash and steering wheels changed. The 96's all had the airbags I believe. Also there was no blue offered in the 96's. I haven't seen any at least.

The auto 96 says some thing else I just don't remember off hand.

My 91gt auto looked like it said bp08, but when I went to wipe the dust off the sticker was going with it.

I'm not sure how to post pics. Well to be honest I'm just lazy and don't want to look that up so I thought a hyper link would be easier.

The pics of the ECU is on Page two.
