i reccomend 1.5mm & thats also what flyin miata uses in their stroker kit. Its a good combo & puts you technically @ a 1.9L---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

.5mm is .020 inches, give or take, so 1.5mm is a .060 overbore, not exactly small. Standing logic was always that the C Spec Miata stroker kit used 85mm pistons, and that not all blocks were up to par to build a race motor at that bore size, 1 in 4 were cast and bored accurately enough for mazda to consider them "safe". Really on an NA street motor I think 85 is fine, but for all out racing Mazda checked each block for thickness. 84.5 should work without issues, and there are plenty of off the shelf pistons in that size.-Mike

More base compression = less room for tuning errors/crappy tuning, etc.!Last edited by Tazman2; 01-13-2006, 05:19 PM.**SOLD** 93 EGT with more suspension mods then your average riced out civic's # of decals + useless "bling/style/culture" mods! **SOLD**

Unless you're a real hamfist tuner in this day and age it shouldn't be a huge problem. Engine management is pretty advanced now a days, and with a well prepped combustion chamber compression isn't that bad on the motor. I'm not suggesting you run a 10.5:1 piston in a motor with tuning that consists of a rising rate regulator and a boost retard box.-Mike
