Crappy shifts still, maybe engine mounts?

Ok, my shifts just aren't smooth no matter what I do. I already tried new tranny fluid and it's better but I don't think that's the issue. When I put the motor in, I only put one of the bolts in for the rear mount. Would that cause the crappy shifts? Also, could the clutch cylinder or maybe the hydraulic fluid being in bad shape cause it? Even first gear starting off engagement isn't good. The clutch in the car looked perfectly fine when I put it back in, it was slightly used.

    the mount could be warping?

besides that, how are the bushings?

The motor bushings are in alright shape, however the back one got a little messed up during the swap. I'm just wondering if that could cause the weird clutch engagement.

If you want to know what I think, I would get under there and put that bolt in. And while I was going to the trouble to do so, I would put these inserts in, too.

Or it could not be the missing bolt and be something else....but thats what I think.

That's a good idea except for the fact that I can't get the other bolt in without pulling the motor. Can I reverse those bolts?

Its not a Ford damnit! But back on topic. You only used one bolt instead of both is that what you did? If so umm yeah that may be a problem as the mount will be able to flex too much if not even bend permently the wrong way and thus things won't line up. But then again i never changed out the rear mount yet so i'm not sure on the details of whats there/not there but you did say you only put in one bolt!

Why would you only put one of the bolts back in?

I put those poly inserts in without pulling my tranny. It wasn't easy to get mount #1 back in, but it's possible.

#1 being the front? I did the front already on mine but have to do the back next!

Nope, #1 is the pita rear one. The front one is easy, #2.

I don't know why they numbered them like that, but that's how it is.

It was a ridiculous PITA to get the bolts in, i only got one back in. Is that causing the problems???

you can very carefully jack up the motor a lil bit and get to that bolt a lil more easier, i had to do it once.
did you ever think it might be your synchros

sounds like it could be from your rear mount man, from having that off, it could angle your shiftlinkage and have a hella hard time trying to shift gears.

just get a piece of soft wood and jack up the engine and fix your issue, i've never had a problem with jackin the car up with the oil pan and a 2x4.

Yeah, its not very easy. I just had a friend pry the motor forward while I snuck the bolts in.

No one can tell you what is causing your problem, but I can tell you that having that bolt out isn't helping. Put it back in so your car is the way it is supposed to be, and then see how it shifts.
