    transmission rebuild?

is rebuilding a 5spd transmission hard? or is this something i just shouldn't attempt myself?

It all depends on how experienced you are, how mechanically inclined you are, what tools you have, ect.

There are a lot of things going on inside of a transmission. If this is something you have never attempted before, I would get someone who knows what they're doing to help you, or at the very least, get a good manual to guide you through the entire process.

I'm not trying to discourage you here. It would just suck for you to go all gung ho and rip your tranny apart and make an even bigger problem.

What exaclty is wrong with your current transmission?

          1. it wont go into gear unless i force it
          2. in r it has a delay then the car jumps back
          3. it wont go into neutral acts likes its still in gear
          4. in 3rd at about 35mph i give it gas and i start to hear clicking from the transmission

note: it is a 5speed and has poly mount incerts

why not have the auto students at your jr college mess with it? they are supervised and the car won't be released until they fix it right. their grade depends on it.

i found a transmission just going to get one from a scrap yard 145miles away 50k on it $275+80 to my door.

the $80 saves me 5 1/2 hr drive

You can mess with the old one once its out. Sounds like you may have killed the diff. Its not as daunting as it seems if you're mechanically inclined, it makes alot more sense when you're looking at it apart how it works. Just make sure you have enough room to keep everything in order and you might be able to fix it and reuse it later if needed. The only part I found difficult was the little ball bearings and mechanisms that make the shift select assembly work the forks, they're kind of a pain to get apart and back together because you cant really see whats going on in there.
