I have a guy on ebay right now telling me that 323 GTX and Protege BP05 valve covers are different. But I thought that the GTX is a turbo'd version of the bp05? Am I wrong on this?

Yes you are wrong if the 323 GTX is the US one. The B6T valve cover is different.

B6T = 80's model 323 GTX
BP05 = 90-94* protege LX (GT only for canada)
