    changing inner axel seal

yea my right one is leaking and i want to change it...

if i'm going to be doing the right seal... what other seals and **** should i change while i'm under there?

someone tell me so i can call up the stealership and get a quote on all the seals

you can do both. just jack up one side at a time it will minimize the amount that leaks out. you will still need to add more after your done but its not going to be as bad as if you just jack it up from the front.

I'd change both of your axel seals, your rear main seal, your shift shaft seal, and your input shaft seal.

While you're there, I'd also replace your lower transmission mounts or at least fill them or get poly inserts. I'd also get a SS clutch line.

Make sure you top your tranny fluid off when finished, or better yet, drain and refill with Redline MT-90.

Yeah, but the inner axel seal is leaking, and in order to replace that, you have to remove the tranny.

ok i have a couple questions...

            1) how long do you guys think this will take me? a day? or 2?

            2) how many lower transmission mounts are there to change?

            3) what benefits from a SS clutch line??

            thanks

              1) If you're changing all the seals jho says to change and takin out the tranni then I would say it'll take a weekend just too be safe. Maybe only a day if your good.

2)There's 3 mounts connected to the tranni. 1 in the front 1 connected to the back and 1 under the battery tray. The ones in the front and back are connected to the crossmember. Those are the one that would benifit you too fill.

3)I have one. They give better, quicker pressure to the clutch. It feels tighter to me when I did mine.

you cant change the input shaft seal w/o literaly getting inside the tranny, and thats just half the battle...been there.

ok... i got my quotes from mazda

                    shift shaft seal... ~$8
axel seals, $9 something each... ~$20
rear main seal for engine?... ~$32

he called the transmission rear main "output seal"??? he couldn't find it on the computer though... he said the engine rear main is $32

                    kinda confusing

think i might change my change control rod too

I'd give yourself at least a day, depending on experience.

There are 2 lower engine mounts. They commonly fail. Fill them while you're there.

A more solid clutch pedal feel. No spongy rubber flexing feel.

                      You're welcome.

And yeah, the rear main seal is for the engine, but because you have to remove your transmission to get to it, you want to replace it while you're there.

what is this tranny rear main seal your talking about? The change rod seal?

theres no rear main seal for the tranny.
