with the dx ecu and a bp one you would want to run it with vics in the open position at all times. and secondly you will not have all the rev's those extra thousand rpm's make a big difference my guess would be in that situation your low end power will be terrible and you top end will probably suck also.
mods: engine: fm stroker lightened and knifedged crank, 11:1, custom crank scraper, fully p&p head and intake mani, bored throttle body, flowed and matched stock injectors, rx7 vaf, apexi safc, gude race cams, modded ecu 8200 fuel cutoff, blaster coil, clutchmasters stage 3 clutch, fidanza fly wheel and timeing gears, msp diff, custom shortram in a cold air box

suspension: s/r struts intrack springs and intrax sway bars 15x6.5 rims kumho mx tires 205 50 r 15

Just get the BP-10/09 ECU and use the BP wiring harness and have everything plug and play and proper.

            hello again,

uhh yea i thought about that... but isnt the ECU plug different from the sohc(dx) - dohc(lx)?
how would changing just the engine harness allow the new dohc ecu to read the VICS and all that crap if the plug that goes to the ecu is still the protege dx one?

...if that makes any sense; im probably trippin

like a said before, the wiring harness goes to the ecu and nothing else (minus another plug next to the ECU but is the same on all BG's) you just need the motor ECU and wiring harness, its plug and play
