    Bp wire harness question

I know i'm going to have to do a bit of custom wiring as it is but can i use an auto wire harness for my bp and awd swap?
I'm using a maita ecu and a greddy emanage ultimate piggy back
I'm also using a cam angle sensor instead of a disti and i have the miata harness that plugs into that part so can i just take the auto harness remove the tape and modify the harness to meet my needs? also does anyeone know which plugs if any will be different? like tps and stuff like that?

I don't see why you couldn't use an AT harness. It will just have some extras that you don't need.

AT TPS is a 4 wire instead of 3 on a MT.

so i can just remove wires i don't need and clean it up? i was going to try and do that anyway causei don't need ac and i'm sure there are some other stuff i don't need

there is no a/c related wiring in the engine harness at all.

not sure how compatible the miata ECU is with either normal BP harness... your best bet (i think) would be modifying a miata harness by extending or shortening wires to make it fit.

i know the plugs go in just fine to the ecu so not sure why it wouldn't work

? huh? if you have something to say just say it don't insinuate what think of someone just say it or be quiet

all i was saying was that the wire harness plugs fit into the miata ecu with no problem so theoretically if it had any open holes that needed a wire for something such as a knock sensor just add it and shouldn't be a problem

dude, why did you take that as an insult... all i said was "hmmmm interesting", meaning "wow it is interesting that the harness plugs are the same, perhaps it will work, neat idea"

way to flip out over nothing lol

its alright man. i think your AWD project is awesome, i was toying with the idea of attempting it myself on my escort GTR but have since trashed the idea in favor of getting some $$ for the awd trans haha... i'm just gonna go FWD with a LSD instead.

the miata ecu is a great idea if you can get it to work, i'm sure some re-pinning will be needed and possibly some sensor swapping. not to mention some alone time with wiring diagrams :-p. if you can get it to work more power to ya, its definately an original idea.

an auto harness will not work on a manual ecu.

a manual harness will not work on an auto ecu.

it may plug in due to some years the manual allegidly has a three plug but teh pin out will not allow you to run.

if you run an auto harness just get the auto t/b and you will be ok. it will get better fuel mileage on the 5spd then a 5spd set-up will.

i'm sure the pinout on the ECU is going to be different, you'll need the wiring diagrams for both the miata and the protege in order to switch that around and get it working right. probably going to have to redo a large portion of the pinout... basically you need to use the throttle body to match the miata ECU... 5 speed type or auto type, not sure what type(s) they used

yeah that is what i figured i'd have to do... won't be easy... but none of this project has been easy.... but it will be worth all the work in the end (i hope) i'm sure one of the miata boards has a diagram somewhere or someone in them can get one... and i think i've seen a diagram around here before also... gonna have to try and find that

there is a stock 5 speed BP vs. GTX ecu pinout diagram kicking around here somewhere... that should help, at least some. wiring colors should be the same at least, but as neuman said the pinout on the auto ECU's is different than 5 speed :-/... i dunno good luck man, i hope you get it workin!
