So I unplug my VAF car will start and not die

Won't die as long as I don't give it any gas, or the fan doesn't come on. I can also unplug it running and it will keep idle.

This is on the GTR problem the stutters when it tries to create any boost. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and after market coil has been added to try and figure out the problem. I did change the FI o-rings as I think there was a vac leak there as I could hear a hissing sound. Now it Idles alot better but I still have the problem above 3500-4000 RPM especially under a load. FPR is plugged directly into the manifold on the lower part near the head where the solenoid used to run from. It purrs like a kitten otherwise except at a higher RPM. 255 lpr fuel pump also. Not sure where the timing is set as as of yet as I don't have a light. But the distributor is in the exact place that my other EGT is. I am getting so sick of this and I am about to give up.

i'd get a timing light and set that timing... they are pretty cheap. if its too far advanced you could be getting detonation, setting off the knock sensor, retarding the timing at higher RPMs and killing power. does it build boost? if so how much?

as far as unplugging the vaf... i think its because the car uses so little fuel at idle that just the fuel pressure in the lines can keep it idling for a while, until you add a load.

Ok for boost is only about 3 max of 5.... Boost gauge is hooked up on the vac line between the actuator and a vac line that was down by the compressor. I just teed off of that. I also checked to maek sure all of the wires were in the sensors that they were supposed to go. I even un plugged many of them one by one to see if there was a difference. As time goes on the problem seems to be getting worse and worse. And no Jon I never got a chance to change the timing belt, although it looked really good and there was very little deflection on it at all. This was due to a must have engine in car or move the entire project somewhere else. The city here was really getting on my ass about it.

Are you for certain that it isn't the TPS? I am just looking for other things to check if the timing is dead on. Wish you were closer so that you could hear this thing. Hell I would even take a video to show what it is doing if it really came down to it....

you should hook your boost gauge up to your intake manifold technically. but i think it should still be reading boost properly where you have it.

i wish i could come down and check it out. a video wont be much help... i have dialup. but if you post it up someone else may be able to help. i tend to doubt a TPS problem.. did you try unplugging that to see what it does?

it really is not the TPS. Something seems funky with the wiring.

+1, unplug the TPS and see what happens. That it's getting worse is a clue. But without being able to look at it, I can't really tell where that clue is pointing!
