If the wear isnt too you could have them knurled.

KNURLED is horrible... no one should ever knurl guides.

What we do at work is put bronze guide liners in... way better than knurling.

What I did for my own head is get some brass guides... I got it from Precision Engine Parts... cause I had stainless steel valves. Cheaper to change the guides than replace the valves. They also sell stock cast guides.

Guide liners are the cheaper and easier thing to do... from a machinist's point of view. But you need a guide liner kit and tooling and that's where it gets expensive.

Cast and brass guides are the same. But cast are cheaper, I got 8 guides for about $16CDN and in brass they were about $30USD. You also need a special driver to drive the guides in and out of the head... especially when driving them in cause you could distort or break/crack a guide. Trust me, I've done it.

Knurling... you know when you go to the gym and the bars have that grip on them. That is called knurling, it raises the surface. But they do this inside the guide to make the hole smaller... and then they ream it out to size. But there is less metal in the guide now and it's easier for the guide to become oversized again from just normal wear and tear. That's why I'm against this... it wears faster too cause there is less material.

          Hope that made sense.

theres a certain height the valve guides have to be @ when installing them, is it so picky that you wouldn't reccomend me doing it myself?
where can i get the tool?

You need a 6mm guide driver. Not sure where to get one... ask your local parts store maybe.

On some guides there are install guide heights... but on the BP guides there is a circlip... so you just bang 'em down to the circlip.

Yup... if you look at your head now it should have a circlip there. You should see that it sits flush with the spring seat. So just drive it back down to where it is. The circlip is not only there for the height adjustment but also so you don't get slipped guides.

For all the guides I'm done in BP they are the tightest guides I've ever had to replace.

I'ma think you'll have to visit your local automotive machine shop and ask them to get you one.

Guide drivers are made to for guides... so yes it will fit perfectly.

The cast guides should come with them... the brass ones didn't, from PEP. I just reused the ones from the guides I took out.
