    oil in intake

hey guys, did a quick search and didn't come up with anything, so I'm asking here...there is oil in my intake manifold of my 1.8 SOHC, like lots of it, and I was wondering what could cause this, I took some pics but I can't transfer from my phone to the laptop so I'll get em up later. But for now if anybody has any ideas lemme know.

    Thanks,

    Nick

You might want to put a oil collector "catch can" between your pcv/intake return input. It will help reduce oil build up on your intake track and sludge. The engine catch can will prevent most of the oil vapors and other crap from building up in your intake. Which can cause poor performance, reduce your gas
mileage, and poor emissions if let persist over time.

I have mine somewhat modeled after the volvo except a little different. I have a medium size catch can to collect majority of the vapors and added a second stage mini model built out of Home Depot components using a air compressor filter to catch the rest. It may be overkill but I just want to be safe.

Here's a link to a good designed catch can that was made for a corvette, Ive seen several others that are good but over priced and sometimes bulky. This model is somewhat price fairly:

Yea and oil catch can will work wonders, its on my list of mods once the new motor is done. I would also check your valve seals. My Escort LX with the 1.9 SOHC has a nice n black intake right after the throttle body. I am about to turn 100000 miles in it so no more valve seals for me
Block is almost done, cylinders are overboard for Weisco pistons, pro gram billet main caps have been line bored, and my chinese EDT rods have been machined to right specs. Everything has been balanced.

Do you get a large plum of smoke on cold start up? If so, I kinda wonder if its your valve stem seals. If not, but thats alot of oil, you might have a breached seal....
