to my rally drivetrain puzzle. 2nd Gen upper intake manifold fitted with a full 60mm TB off of a 2.2L Subi, special manifold rework internally and lastly machined MSP diff carrier for the speedo gear, hope I got the gear on in the right direction, made the most sense.
The idle air control will be built with a custom remote location, off the TB, allowing air into the brass fitting on the bottom. The TPS doesn't just bolt on, but it was fairly straight forward to make an adapter plate. The Subi TB shaft is built the same way as the Mazda, the cable pull ring even bolted right on.

Aaaaa, nope, had to redrill the TB. What you don't see in the picture, the 2 lower holes actually break out from the sides, about 1/3 of the hole diameter. In case anyone is wondering, the Quaffe bolt kit for the final drive will work with the MSP unit as well. They are like tiny wheel studs, 10mm, but very short. Now to see how well the 4.39:1 gears fit in the tranny...

Can't hide anything... They aren't broken, but yes, two of them got damaged along the face there. They were cleaned up with an exacto knife. I had the gear fitted to the housing and when I loosened the jaws on the lathe, it fell about 6-8" to the bed plate, denting the two teeth.

In NZ we use a bolt match TB ,65mm or 60mm, cant remeber, but its from a EA and EB Ford Falcon (has 3.9/4.0lt Inline 6)

acceletor cable is reversed, so we DIY plate it to make it work

I thought about the Explorer TB, but I'm not all too sure the 60mm isn't going to be too big. Too big and I'll be loosing torque and fine throttle control, at least that's my feeling. If I get itchy someday, I'll try the Explorer one for myself.

Onr more puzzle piece this weekend, found at half off day at Ecology, the Kia Sephia axles. The Phx Ecology is huge, about 2 city blocks long by 1/2 a block wide. I found the only 1.8L '97 manual tranny car. And the best part, the axle look brand new, there were greese splatters where old axles had leaked, but these boots all looks perfect, no cracks, no discoloring, and no grease. Itching to get the new drive train done. The machine shop called Friday, the block is ready to be picked up.
