    bp rockers and lifters

i got a 91 sohc 16valve motor. just the other day the rockers and lifters started making a hell of a noise. i know its either rockers or lifters cuz i can hear the valves going *tick tick tick tick tick. wheres a good place for me to order some lifters and rockers?

dont waste your money buying new

take the cam out and clean the HLA's out

    its easy to do
    just take them apart
leave them in your fav cleaner, wait
then reassemble them using assembly lobe

    they'll be good as new

and change your oil at the same time. that also can cause them to tick tick

And if the tick still occurs, you can find out which ones have collapsed simply by pressing on the top of the rocker arm. If you can push it down then the lifter is bad. You shouldn't be able to push it down any.

Then head on to the junkies and grab a few good ones. Again to find out if they're good, squeeze them.

check your oil, that's the one thing i've noticed about the b8's and bp's they'll let ya know when you're a quart low with all of that noise.

SOHC lifters are not the same procedure for cleaning as DOHC lifters

so I'm gonna chime in at this point with the ever popular, "so how do I clean my HLAs on my SOHC" question that seems to pop up every time somebody mentions cleaning HLAs, but somehow never gets answered...

well, I have a spare head, so if no one answers it, I'll make a How-To this week.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.
