I myself have a fidanza 8.5lb fly and it is a huge diff compared to the stock unit. Im actually thinking bout selling it though, and getting the spec stage 3 miata lightenend fly, and lightened pressure plate, thats deff something to look at with fly clutch kits, because the majority of the weight of the press plate lies around the outermost edge of the fly so if you get a light fly but a heavier pressure plate your kinda negating the light fly, spec makes a lightweight fly/light weight pressure plate that would be a flippin sweet combo I beleive, as far as drivability goes, once you know how to drive with a light fly its not harder to drive its actually easyer.

I've got about 400 miles on my ProLite flywheel so far, mix of street driving and track use. We even had to pull the tranny once since it was all put together, I think it's a great flywheel. I'm not having any driveability issues with it at all. The clutch isn't anything too fancy, just an Exedy Stage 1 kit for the Escort GT. I started out with one for a Miata, but due to some kind of issues with it, manufacturing or something, we changed it out for the Escort version.

Every time I go from my truck to my car I seem to rev the car too much for the 1st couple starts as I'm used to a less revvy v6 with a heavier flywheel. I assume the same would happen with a light weight one so for driveability's sake I wouldn't get a light weight flywheel at all but thats just me.

Meh. A little practice on starts and a light flywheel is fine.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Hm, kinda ressurrecting this a bit.
For my '85 corolla, I ended up getting a 1-piece 8lb9oz chromoly unit, that came with a good clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bushing, and alignment tool, for 500 shipped. great deal!!
I'm thinking maybe the ACT streetlite 11.4lb miata flywheel, for my '90 4WD (the least expensive of the three weights offered, 10.4, 11.4, 13.5lbs). I need to replace the clutch, and I'm sure I'll be rallyXing and autoXing it at some point. Plus, It'll get a BP, and possibly even a turbo eventually, but until I get one built for it, I''m just going to be using the B8, so any improved ability to spin faster will be great.
Jay, you said you used a 93 MX6 ACT clutch on the fidanza, right? Is that just because of greater friction area?
hmm, I was just digging into it more, and the "Flyin' Miata clutch Happy Meal", with the 10.3lb steel flywheel sells for $699, and comes with the ACT clutch (rated for 233lb-ft), their little clip for blocking off the clutch switch, and the throwout bearing and pilot bushing. I think the throwout is different, so I'd need to source a new one of those, but I think it comes out to be a pretty good deal.

Corksport did some measuring and found that that combo has the proper clearances and such to not overstress things like the clutch fork, and puts the loads on the shafts in the right places. It also has a bit more surface area, yeah.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
