5th gear interchangability?

I was wondering if you could put a 5th gear set out of an escort (non BP) into an F-series transmission from a Mazda?

Anyone? I may need a set of 5th gears for my MX3, and there are a TON of Escorts around here, but next to none when it comes to Mazda Proteges or MX3's

from what i've heard it HAS to be a Mazda f-series tranny. No Ford 1.9L crap.

ford's version of the f-series... AFAIK, nothing like the mazda's.

i have the 5th speed gears from my 1.6l f series gtx tranny. they are sitting on a bench in the garage about to be tossed. and did u ever sell that 4wd protege shifter? possible trade?

Yep, I am going to wait till july to do it though, I want to get the body work done first. I will be doing a BP+T setup and a G-series trans.
