when i first did the swap in my car i wanted a bpt but they where out rageously priced so i opted for the b6t, i found a deal i couldnt pass up on a clean bpt so now i wish i would have had this motor 3 years ago, i think bp's are better because more parts are avliable the b6t's where only in 323 gtx & Gt also the capri xr2 where as the BP has a fowling from the escort's proteges, tracers, kai's and of course the all mighty miata and people are pushing the bps alot more then the b6t and there are tons of miata shops selling bp after market parts

This sorta fits into the same idea as the "ultimate build"
I have a SC12 (MR2 supercharger) that I'm no longer using (going with a nice turbocharger), I had a crazy idea.
Since I'm not using the 4-rib pulley on my BP in the 323, I had just a silly idea.
The stock BP crank pulley was 130mm. The factory S/C MR2 pulley is 120mm. This would provide a slight bump in pressure. However, since the displacement has increased from 800cc per cycle to 900cc per cycle (1.6L vs. 1.8L), the extra pressure is actually minimal.
So, after some fancy math, it works out that the MR2 supercharger will provide about 8.02 psi of boost (math only, I'm sure it'll be slightly less) at peak. The fancy bit about this is that the SC12 uses an electromagnetic clutch. Basically, with the flick of a switch you can either have it free-wheel like an A/C compressor or provide sweet, sweet boost.
My question is, what do I need to do to ensure I can daily drive this without fear of tossing #1 rod through the side of the block?
I was hoping to keep 9:1 compression so I can maintain a ~120hp without the supercharger. I won't EVER exceed ~9psi, so keep that in mind.
I was thinking forged 9:1 pistons and a set of forged rods would keep everything inline. Other than that, clean the head and slap it all back together with Megasquirt running the show.
I'm most likely going to run the supercharger all the time for simplicity's sake, but I'd like the option down the road to setup a switch-able tune (one switch engages new fuel map and supercharger).
The little beast in question.
I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.

I had the same sort of idea (Haltech PWM-controlled switch, and twincharged instead of just supercharged) and from what I have read, a common problem when running a supercharger off of a switch like that is breaking / tossing belts (this was on a KL Probe GT, IIRC). I'd still be interested in trying it, assuming I could hunt down an SC12 in decent shape and somehow manage to find room for it where the A/C used to be.sigpic
