Spec disc with an ACT pressure plate... thoughts?

alright, so, i need a better clutch. mine holds most of the time but slips sometimes... and i'm shooting for more power soon.

    1. i have a brand new ACT pressure plate lying around
    2. the spec stage 3+ clutch kit is $450. the disc alone is $239.

so i'm thinking, obviously... act pp, spec disc. so i emailed spec, and got back:

"Make sure your pressure plate is set up for a .350 thick disc. The OE and most aftermarket pressure plates (other than ours) are set up for only .310-.320 thickness. We can build any stage disc to match a thinner setup except stage 3+ and 5…. That’s why I had asked what cover you were using"

I cant find my caliper so i cant confirm right now the thickness of the ACT disc, but assuming he is correct... would increasing the step height (distance between the mounting surface and friction surface) of the flywheel by the difference in disc thickness be a reasonable way to go about alleviating this issue?

    thoughts?

My spare ACT disc (nonpuck) is 3/8" or maybe a BCH less, so what, .375 or a touch less. Confirm when you find your caliper. I didn't wanna take the thing outta the shrinkwrap so my measurements are prolly off a little.

I just measured the ACT clutch disc and it's right around .310-.315, so Spec is right.

I see two ways of making the Spec 3+ disc work with the ACT PP. Your washer idea or machine the PP or flywheel down the right amount to make up for the difference.

If you can't differentiate between brake and break, you should go back to school

Machine the flywheel. Don't do no ghetto washer ****. Plus it adds weight
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

thats what i was planning to do, actually... no plans to use any ghetto spacers . i need to have the flywheel resurfaced anyway, i'll just have them grind it a little extra
