    center LSD or rear LSD??

for my new 4wd, what do you think would be a better investment? i figure i can afford to buy either a GTR/miata rear lsd, or a GTX tranny with the center lsd... which is going to improve my handling more?

this car is going to get a BP and possibly boost (~200whp tops) somewhere (way) down the road.

No question at all. If I had to choose one, I'd go with the BPT trans and get the viscous centerdiff. For one it'll bolt right up to a BP with no issues. For another, you'll have way less understeer with the right centerdiff. The BPT trans is stronger than the BF gtx one. Last but not least, you won't really need a rear LSD with 200 or less hp. So go get the right trans and then save pennies for the rear lsd when you boost it.

I'll agree completely with Jay. if i wasn't sticking with the b6t I'd totally worry way more about the center vlsd than rear lsd.

I'd go with Jay too on this one, he seems to be the go-to-guy about 4WD/AWD configurations lol.

I've run a rear LSD with an opendiff BF trans, I've run an open rear diff with a BPT trans and a rear LSD with the BPT limited centerdiff. That last combo is tha titz but the biggest difference was indeed getting rid of the open centerdiff. BPT tranny FTW.

Naw, scratch that. Go buy a LSD rear and tell me where you find a BPT trans and I'll buy it for you and remove the temptation. I only have one spare, 'tween the 2 cars...

i agree you can always swap a miata lsd in the rear later on it is stronger then a gtr diff right?

I don't think you can swap centerdiffs, man. 'Sides, the bpt thing appears to be stronger than the BF thing. So do the bpt swap in that BF and go kick soobie butt.
Yeah, that was my poor ol' GTX. Wish I coulda saved it.

For auto cross you'll shoot your self for not getting an LSD center diff... I am praying for the day I can get the cash together to swap in a BPT box with LSD center diff... 1 wheel fire going around a corner with an AWD car is embarrasing!!!

besides the B6T trans for rally-x or drag racing doesn't need the LSD center diff.. you just lock it and go...

I ran a track day in my 4wd a few months ago, by the end of the day I was pushing the car hard enough in the corners to get it to a slight oversteer condition, similar to how my GTX was handling at the two track days it went to. For tight, low speed events like an autocross, it would be pretty hard to outdrive the understeer. But, with 200hp, it might be possible. A center lsd will certainly help with everyday conditions, rain, snow, mud, without the need to lock the center up.
