Do i have the wrong clutch???

i got a act clutch with a turbo kit i bought from someone here on the forums he said it was suppose to be for a escort gt but the clutch disc is still loose in between the flywheel and pressure plate after the pressure plate is tightened down the dimesions of the disk are 18 splines(pressure plate), 8 3/4 wide 5/16 thick im wondering if i have the wrong clutch? I have tried a new flywheel also, no luck. Also i have a spec stage 1 clutch with a bad disc will it work if i get my pressure plate resurfaced and by a new act clutch disc and use that with my spec pressure plate?

how many splines are actually on the disc though? like, the splines that engage the input shaft of the transmission.

the g series has 22 splines, the f series has 20. theres not really a whole lot of different fwd mazda clutch designs out there...

oh...im not sure but the stock bp clutch alignment tool fit perfectly...but can i get an act clutch disc and use it with my spec pressure plate if i resurface it...?

you could, but like i said spec uses thicker disks than ACT so its not going to be using its full clamping load. why not just get a spec disc? shoot them an email or give them a call, they can sell the discs seperately... its just not priced on the website.

oh ok i didnt know they could sell them seperetely, could i go with a bigger disc then stage one?

yeah you could go for a higher stage disc. i'm running a 3+ disc and i like it a lot... expensive though.

im gonna call tomoro and maybe order one up how much did just ur disc cost?, any idea on how much it will cost to resurface the pressure plate?

I'd buy a new pressure plate before having one machined. When it gets machined it takes material off, making the clamping force go down. Depending on how worn it is right now, you may run into a problem where you tighten everything down and the friction dick still moves around. I've had this problem also when buying clutches off of ebay. Your best bet is to spend the money on a decent clutch once, so you don't have to keep replacing cheaper ones every few months.

I used the friction disc it came with and used a stock pressure plate from Auto Zone. Still holding over a year later.
