swap bp then after market turbo or BPT?

Hey guys i tried looking around but i couldn't really find an answer i was looking for... i just wanted to know what you're opinions would be about swapping a regular bp motor then turboing it or getting the bpt gtr from this site http://www.jdmracingmotors.com/produ...products_id=69
does that site look legitimate, like the price and the package of whats included? If i did get the bp motor would i need new axels? thanks

First off, it's most likely (almost 0% chance) that's a GTR motor. Not pooping on your parade, but don't get your hopes up for a "diamond in the rough"

actually it's a reputable site with 1 exception ... it is a "listing" for a gtr motor and they do provide all the parts listed but do they have it in stock and will the price increase those are the real questions

The only reason I point out is, they don't have a listing for a non-GTR motor.

A shop that only sells GTR motors sounds like the hot ticket.

Also, I just noticed no wiring harness is mentioned with all that stuff. Ask them if they hacked it off like other shops do (only because it's not listed as one of the parts).

If you're just buying a GTX motor (assuming it's listed wrong) with a cut harness, there are better places to get it for less money.

        If you find it's just;
        a) Standard GTX motor (ask for pictures of exhaust manifold from the shop, if possible)
        b) has a cut wiring harness

Then you can just grab the standard BP-T from anywhere.

Here's one for $400 less at TigerJapanese with no wiring harness.

Thanks for the replies guys good stuff
im now pondering upon the questions you guys raised
im actually a total newb at all this stuff anyway so im really trying to make sure i make a good decision if i decide to buy something. Im currently lookin in the area for a standard bp motor and just possibly turbo'ing that instead of getting a standard bpt? ahh idk im so confused theres several options. If i do decide to look for say the GTX or standard bpt motor online should i look for one that has the wiring harness or one that has a cut wiring harness?

finding a pro GT (or US spec LX) harness will work if you cant get one without a cut harness.

if you have the cash go for the GTX swap and a pro GT (or US spec LX) transmission now. or find a BP and build the turbo stuff before swapping it in.

thats atleast how i would have done it if i did it again

GTR has an aluminum inlet pipe, and the heat shield is a different shape.

Edit: And it's not hard when you have one :p

Okay, you seem to be confused.

BPT is typically used as a blanket term to describe any BP Turbo, be it BP05T (N/A BP with a turbo added on), BPT (GTX), or BPD (GTR).

The answer to your question is, it depends. What are your power goals, and what are you willing to spend?

There isn't really an aftermarket solution to be had. You can put together a setup that will work for under $1000 (there's even a thread about it in the Forced Induction section) but it won't reach 200whp.

Cheap, fast, reliable- pick any two.
