    3inch exhaust to a 2.5 inch muffler

Hey i know this might sound a little noobish but i might buy already welded up 3inch exhaust piping from a member over here but i have a 2.5 inch inlet muffler can i just weld a peice of piping in between the two so that it would allow me to weld the muffler to the exhaust ? and also how much of a powerband loss am i looking to see if i run 3inch piping on a stock na setup for a little while as i gather parts for my turbosetup. its not like im going to keep it na so i just want to know for the heck of it because i might drive it around for a little bit once i drop my new bp in there and there is no exhaust piping on the car as of now so id have to put the 3inch piping on or run open downpipe lol but thats a little too loud

salvo has them, other parts stores might.
        just buy an exhaust adapter.
        weld it on

i dont think "not having a 3" muffler" will hurt you unless you were turbo'd

ps; im pretty sure some exhaust restriction is good for n/a systems for exhaust scavenging

You actually want a little back pressure when you are N/A, otherwise it's gonna affect your low end torque... off the line performance will suffer. So puting that 2.5" muffler back will help you a little while on N/A. When you go turbo you better put a 3" exhaust on there... turbo's do not like back pressure. They actually say that an open to atmosphere right after the turbo is the best bet, but no one wants that.

I run ITBs and I'm using 2.25 exhaust. Low end torque is awesome!

right but i have 3 inch piping that im planning on running witha 2.5 muffler and i want to just have it setup NA then just use the same setup for my turbo should be fine right?

Trust me the turbo setup and na setup are totally different. Now if you build a 3in catback then thats ok

its that, cant i just weld that up to my stock dp or something for now then once i go turbo ill just get some sort of custom downpipe for that.

What do you mean by fine?... yes it will run. But you're probably robbing some performance after you go turbo.

For the amount of power you will run, having the muffler 2.5 inch in diameter won't make much difference at all. The downpipe (close to the turbo) makes a much bigger difference.

Thats just a catback so you'll be fine. when you get a downpipe built have a flex-pipe put in and run it to that catback.
