No power to distributor after engine swap

    Hi guys

I recently installed a GTX engine to my mazda 323 4wd model 1991.

I did what swalltr207jg said to this forum http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13509 but the car wont start.
The fuel pump has a lot of pressure but the distributor doesnt have power.Coil has. The new engine was working fine before so the distributor must be ok. Maybe I am missing something with the harness? Any ideas how to check if everything is ok there?

    Thanks

is spark getting to the dizzy? or is that lead from the coil to the dizzy bad?

      No power to distributor

      Hi mate.

No power from the coil at all. there is a blue thick cable under the coil which comes from the ecu and doesnt have power at all

grab the fsm and use the troubleshooting for the distributor. the signal for spark starts there -to ecu- to coil- and back to dist.

yeah, sounds like the Igniter circuit to me. That was one of the three wires I had to re-route when I put the GTX engine/ecu into my escort wagon.

No power to distributor after engine swap

Thanks guys I found the problem. It was a plug next to the coil. It had 3 cables and only 2 were connected.

No I ve got another problem...The temperature goes to the middle stays there but the cooling fan doesnt start. It runs for 15 to 20 mins and still nothing. The temperature here is 25 to 29 degrees celcius. I ve changed the sensor and still nothing. The fan works perfect if I short curcuit the relay. It looks like that the cooling fan doesnt gets the command to start

Thanks guys I appreciate your help

            Cheers

If the temp gauge doesn't indicate that it's overheating I wouldn't worry about the fan not coming on. It should only have to come on when you come to a stop after being at speed. If you just start it then let it idle it probably won't come on unless it's REALLY hot outside.

No power to distributor after engine swap

Well the car hasnt been anywhere I am just testing. I playing with the gas pedal for 20 mins, the temperature went up to the middle and the fan didnt turn on.

Dont know my previous engine which was natural aspirated after 20 mins the fan started. Any other suggestion? I dont want to start driving the car and after 30 mins to blow up the engine...

                Thanks for the reply though

is the temperature going beyond half? if not, then I wouldn't worry too much!
