    solid lifter options?

Hey guys i have been looking for solid lifters for the bp05 head. Any suggestions would be great, but the more stronger or expensive the better cause i switched to some pretty crazy cams and springs and my revs will hit about 10,000. Head originally from 95 escort gt

What cams did you get? What head work did you do?

I don't think the 505's are that extreme. Jon (therieldeal) runs them. Atleast you should start with the BP4W head from a Miata. It already has the solid lifters and flows better.

Why do you want to rev to 10k? You'll never make power up there, imho.

Also, if you are serious about 10k rpm, you would want to switch to shim-under-bucket or you'll be throwing the shims. Plus, it lightens up the valvetrain.

Miatas came stock with solid lifters in 1999

yeah the 505's are a mild performance cam, certainly not good to 10K LOL

actually the 99/00 solid lifter miata cams have damn near the same amount of lift, but they arent the right profile for HLA's. if you wanted solid lifters you should have bought solid lifter cams...

the cams i have are recomended to use with solid lifters. my previous cams were for hydraulic. my cam and spring combo are good to 10,500rpm. i want to rev at 10k because once you are past about 7,500 your not making power, your gaining in mph untill the diff is run out

IMO there is still no reason to rev a BP to 10k... they dont have a very good rod ratio, your piston speed will be through the roof. i hope you have forged pistons and rods...

really the 99 cams are have the same lift/duration as the 99 cams? i was thinking of running the 99 head with gtx cams but that maybe just a waste. i have an extra 99 head i believe its complete

You can convert to solid lifters by using your cam follower from your factory HLA and 'locking' the HLA part with solid rod, you then shim to suit and hey presto! Solid lifters. Its time consuming, however effective, takes the same time to do as solid miata cams would take as you still have to take the cam out.

Performance shims in AUS make the lock bars, and can provide you with shim material, always leave a tad more clearance on the exhuast side.

If you have access to a solid NB8 miata head, id use that.

Im currently doing some research because i think RB26 solid lifters are the same diameter folllower (the part the cam touches) as the BP

                      Cheers

Thats why you build it to go that high, so it doesn't blow up

I can't remember the name of the Japanese company that makes those solid lifter kits... Muruhara or something like that, they have those kits where it puts the shim under the bucket so that it will not fly out like the Mazda Miata style where the shims are on top, which apparently when rev'd up too high will have a chance of flying out.

                              ... and BOOM!

                              Oh found it... Maruha!
