BPW4 head, is this price good?

Its for a rebuilt head with springs and valves, no cams though.

One is $684.25 and the other is $511.75. If I get one I am going with SS oversized valves and rest of the crap for a built head. The more $$$$ has cams, the other ones doesnt.

Block is almost done, cylinders are overboard for Weisco pistons, pro gram billet main caps have been line bored, and my chinese EDT rods have been machined to right specs. Everything has been balanced.

I am weighing the pros and cons of a used head or a rebuilt head. Either one would get work done to it and one is sold by an online shop that lists all kinds of specs while the other one doesnt, I had to email the yard to ask about the casting number.

I also email the shop asking about custom work.

So any solid lifter head with no cams is gonna land up costing you more money to set up the solid lifters with the right clearance... think about that one.

                        English please

The online shop said they could do the machining but they wont because of how much it would cost to ship the head. I looked into shipping a 70lb block back to the states last year for $400. They said $900 for a 38lb head.

I am going to see my parents near Seattle next summer so I could have them ship the completed head to my parents house. I could bring or buy an extra bag and I could put the head in that. I could care less about $20 for an extra bag but since I am in the Army, I may be able to get the fee waived.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Now I just need to figure out what I want for the head.

He was saying that if you get a head with no cams, you're going to have to spend more money getting the clearances/shims right than if you bought a complete head. But, if you are getting aftermarket cams, you'll have to set the clearances anyways, so the point is somewhat moot. Though, you could possibly reuse some of the shims with the aftermarket cams and not have to get 16 new ones.
