wierd sputter and than dead

    wierd sputter and than dead

    so a few minutes ago as i was driving through campus to drop off my girlfriend my car started sputtering and wanted to die. as i shifted, the rpms went down to 500 and then kicked back up to 1500. it sounded bad. at a stop sign the engine died but she started right back up again. it did this again one more time. when i finally got to where i was dropping my girlfriend off the car started to idle correctly. i was curious so i popped the hood to check out what i could see. everything looked normal, no plug wires had come loose, no electrical connections were off.

    does anyone know what might have been the problem?

    threw a rod. Engine is toast.

        it could have been some moisture because it was drizzling. it has never happened before tho, so i didnt think it could be from moisture

          Check for any intake leaks maybe? If you are still running the original intake tube, they are prone to cracking, I repaired mine with some silicone before replacing it with an intake pipe.

              i found no cracks on the intake tube. mine is in really good shape, i dont think thats it. i thought maybe it was the fuel filter but the problem went away. i will check these things out tomorrow

                could be a failing fuel pump?
