    engine swap

I have an 1993 mazda protege with a 1.8l sohc engine with an automatic and a 1992 protege with a 1.8l dohc with a manual. The sohc engine is blown and the tranny for the dohc is messed up. Will the 92 dohc engine bolt up to the 93 automatic tranny? I've asked a bunch of people and i've gotten mixed answers. some people say that they won't bolt up while others say it will with no problem. Anything you guys have would be helpful

I'll give you a hint... they (SOHC & DOHC) both use the same block!

yep, just use all the sohc transmission stuff, the flex plate, TQ converter...it'll all bolt up to the BP. but you will have to get the BP ECU, i believe the harness SHOULD work...you'll have have to run a fex extra wires for the disti and the intake manifold.

i've made plenty of progress, but now i'm stuck on the ecu. if i am correct, the BP09 ecu is for the sohc auto and the BP10 is for the BP 5spd. so which ecu should i use? any info would be extremely helpful.
