Stock BP ..can it use Miata stock 9:1 pistons ??

I know you all will rip on me and say to search the forum ....

I have for awhile but I didnt find a quick solid answer. I bet there is a thread that discusses this exact topic , but didnt come across it .

The question is can I use stock Miata 9:1 pistons w/ standard ring set with a stock BP block and stock BP head. ? nothing would be oversized . standard all around .

I am just doing a stock rebuild of my BP. had the head resurfaced and a valve grind.

If they do work together will I have an issues with using stock rods , wrist pins, ecu , fuel ,VAF etc.

Will it add some horsepower ?

What concerns do I have ? will I need to change anything else ? or will it not affect any thing other than giving a higher compression ...

This is my first engine rebuild so its a learning curve for me .

Or is this even worth doing as my stock pistons are alright and just need new rings. ?????

    Thanks abunch in advance

The BP out of the Escort GT and the 90-94 Protege SHOULD already have 9:1 pistons.

No, they're 8.8:1, same as the 94-95 Miata. 96-97 Miata had 9:1 pistons.

BP's have different deck hight between the different years so 01+ pistons might have more or lest compression in a bp05 block
