    Transmission questions

After a couple of seasons of road racing the trans. in my Pro LX started giving me problems. I'm having problems with the 4-3 downshift. All other upshifts and downshifts work fine. It does it if the car is running or not. Some people have said a bent shifter fork some have said synchros. Any ideas?

I'll probably go to the pick and pull and look for a transmission, what years and models have the same trans? As always thanks for the help in advance.

3rd and 4th gears are not the strongest ones. just pick up a spare g-series tranny for cheap and throw it in and enjoy many more years of racing.

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Can you tell me what years this transmission came in? The guys at the pick and pull are not real helpful with interchange info.

        90-94 Protege LXs

you can also try from a 95-97 Kia Sephia

but both need to be from BP cars.

Same issue running or not suggests a bent fork or bad linkage, whereas race use suggests damn near anything. But ya might as well start looking at the easy stuff first, linkage then forks then a newused box.

Thanks guys. so the 90-94 pro lx ,95-97 bp powered sephia and 91-96 egt all use the same trans? These are all drop in and go right? I thought i read somewhere that the kia uses a different axle input spline.

yes if you buy one from a kia you will need both axles and the intermediate shaft as well. just buy them along with the trans... or buy just the intermediate shaft and grab my lifetime warranty axles

Thanks but i have two brand new axles in the car and two good spares just in case we have isues at the track so unless i'm desperate the kia trans is out. i'll get under the car tomorrow and check the linkage and see if the trans shifts without it but i'm pretty sure the shifter and linkage is good.i'm thinking shifter forks as jay said. thanks again guys this site has helped me alot and i appreciate it.
