GT4 gearbox to Mazda GTX/GTR

Hi guys

I am thinking of giving more power to my GTX 4wd but I am afraid that the gearbox wont handle it...
I ve seen in the forum that you can install a gearbox from a Celica GT4
Is it worth it? Has anyone done it? Also how much it will cost roughly and what will I need?

the plate is roughly $300 shipped to you (if i can get another group buy together)

the rest.. idk you really need to try sourcing parts. if you cant fabricate mounts and stuff yourself the labor cost could get pretty intense.

I saw some other posts in the forum...Its hard time consuming and you have to do a lot of conversions...I will stick to stock GTR gearbox for now until I finish with the engine.

could be over 2k shipped to the USA, for the trans, diff, driveshaft, axles, shifter, and cables. Could be less, could be more, depends on where you find them.

Being in AU, you may well have the parts down at your local salvage yard, and be able to get everything for 200 on a good day....

he's talking about the GT4 bits. we only got a few alltracs here in the states, and they stopped bringing them here in '93... parts are somewhat rare unless you import from japan.

Yes I just found the transmission in Adelaide for 250 Australian dollars...
The think is the labor the time and all the other bits and pieces that I will need
Maybe its better to get a strengthen GTR/GTX gearbox which is bolt on?

I think he means how much did it cost you for the whole swap. But your swap was more than a normal one because you have the dog box gt4
