    Best engine swap

Hey guys im new to CP & this is my first post! Ive had my 94 DX for a couple years now and already been through an engine swap. When i got the car it had no mods with a B8. Unfortunately i did not find CP until after the engine swap and i put in another B8 lol But now that im here i want to swap again for a better engine and im looking for opinions on what to go with. The only extra knowledge i have on my protege is what i found here and from most of the posts i read i was thinking the BPT or the 323 GTX would be best but i really have no idea which would be better or if there is a better option. Id really like to shoot for 200hp+ maybe 250hp+ if possible with an emphasis on acceleration.
Lofty goals i know but the forum got me excited lol Ill take any help i can get.....

KLDE/KLZE/K8 V6. No turbo needed. More reliable. And it's been done quite a bit. http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18065

while the KL is becoming more popular theres still a lot more info on the BPT(vj20) in the GTX and the GTR turbo setup than KL.

Turpro if I finish mine, you HAVE to finish yours.

I'll even let you bomb around in my car if I can, and you promise not to break it, and replace the front passenger tire when you're done.

first start off with upgrading to the BP! gonna be a definite notice right there even on a stock engine.

i'd stick n/a..more reliable to an extent. but there are a lot of options for going turbo. and if you do it right and dont cut corners. you WILL have a quick lil car.

now most of us on here cant afford to do it all in one shot so if you do plan on goin turbo w/ a bp then you may have to let the car sit for a bit...hope ya got another car for DD. OR!! you can get a bp engine and all the stuff...build the engine while its out of the car and gather the parts you need for the swap. and if you do go BPT, get the kia trans swap as well. not necessarily needed...but may help.

im doing an n/a build just cuz this is my dd and i dont wanna break down in-between bumfukk egypt, and you-gotta-perrty-mouth.

either way ya go..turbo or n/a....introducing the BP powerplant to your car will be the best thing you could do for it.

Best of luck on upgrading! hope ya see it through!

So Im guessing by your signature that N/A means no turbo? I looked everywhere for what it meant, couldnt find it. I did plan on rebuilding whatever engine i decided on outside the car first, getting all the parts together, then making the swap. She is my daily too after all. How much hp do you think i could get out of a BP? Do you think it would be possible to do a KL turbo or is there no room? Or is it a pain in the ass to swap the KL, which is why Turpro hasnt done it yet? Btw I thought the BP was stock, like the b8/b6 or did you mean the b8/b6 is stock? Or did you mean if i swap to a stock BP ill see better performance? Kinda confused there lol

lol yes N/A means Naturally Aspirated. -- we all gotta learn someday. dont feel bad. haha when i first got into this i thought it mean north american...hahah

but i think someone is doing a twin turbo KL swap...not sure. cant quiter remember.

how much power out of the BP?? theres a guy in FL (spenone) spen, if i remember...hes pushin 300+ out of his. BUT!! hes got a completely Built-like-a-brick-****t house engine to hold that. i.e. head studs, main studs. rods, pistons, etc. Stand alone fuel management and the entire works. not a cheap build there. --someone correct me if i'm wrong this is just what i was told

the stock g-series trans which came with the BP can hold 300 horsepower stock?? -- again might be wrong so please correct me if i'm wrong.

and yes swapping from a b8 to a BP you will notice it! never experienced the difference as mine came with the BP and G-series. :D

just search around in the worklog sections and see what all people have done for their setups. that will give you a good idea of what to get and then you can start sourcing parts. keep an eye on the classified section here towards the bottom of the main forum page for some good/ rare deals. there is a TON of stuff to be found if you just take a night or two and search, search, search! i do this every once in a while just to see what new stuff people are rollin out with.

hell..jon (therieldeal) swapped in a toyota transmission....first one to do so and hes got a complete write up on it! check around bud! gonna find a ton of sweet stuff!

of all the forums i've seen...this has to be the BEST one as far as ease to navigate, and the wealth of knowledge people have here!

Stock BPs can hold 250hp easy, and I've seen well over 300whp with proper management.

Jon was the first one IN THE US to swap in the E153- guys in Australia/New Zealand did it first.
