    Fuel rail question

I have a 1993 protege lx and im putting a 1995 ford escort 1.8 in, i know there the same engine but the hook up is different on the fuel rail, should i take the rail off the old engine? kinda new to these. Any other problems i might run into wth this swap? thanks

swap the rail that's specific to your make/model, so run the protege LX stuff

also you'll need to swap the coolant temp sensor since the ford is different...its a little 10mm ground probe under the thermostat housing from what i can remember...has 1 wire coming off it

also if you're re-gasketing the engine, swap the main bearing support plate from the old Protege engine over to the EGT engine, since it doesn't have one.

Also the 95 EGT motor may have a 4-wire TPS and 4-wire o2 sensor, may have to use your Protege stuff...just check to find out.

Nope the 95 egt doesnt have a 4 wire. Also just use your escort fuel rail because the hookups on the protege rail are different. The fuel rails themselves are the same just the hookups.

ok cool thak you guys! yeah the reason being is i bought the protege for 150 so couldnt pass it up and i didnt want to run the original engine on tht track yet cause its been sittin for a while and id rather go threw it first to make sure everything is good so i picked up the very clean escort engine for 150 so im just gonna put that in to get it on the track sooner. is there anything else i should change or or is that all?
          Thanks

            nope you'll be solid man.

just use your fuel rail & filter
            10mm coolant sensor
o2 sensor (if EGT engine has different wire count)

and like i said you can swap over the main bearing support plate, but you have to remove the oil pan and use ALL of the MBSP hardware from the Protege engine.

if you're really trying to squeeze some power, you can check if you have the earlier style intake manifold which has a better flowing butterfly system...just let me know and i can guide you thru it lol, just need the center intake gasket for the swap.
