    Bp swap issues

My brother has had a bp swap in his dx for at least a couple of years now. It's starting to run really rough as well as having idle issues. Here is his current swap setup:
    Mazda bp
    Escort gt harness
    Mazda lx ecu

Is there a difference between the ford and Mazda bp ecu? I'm really hoping that this is the issue. All fuel and ignition system components have been replaced, the cat is hollow, and the vaf and coolant temp sensor are fine. There are no vacuum leaks, and the air filter is clean.

describe what you think running rough is, and describe the idle situation

because usually when i hear running rough and having a rough idle...i automatically think ignition system.

Accelerates like it's only running on 3 cylinders, and idles above 1700 rpm.

check the disty internals for oil
        check the plug wires resistance
        replace the water thermo sensor

every time ive had a BP run that bad it was one of those 3

Disty is clean and coolant sensor is brand new. Plug wires are only a few years old ngk, but I'll check them tomorrow. I'll take the distributor cap off and check again just to be sure.

exactly how the 93 I just picked up is running, I found vac leaks @ the injector seals @ the head. check all over for vac leaks spray some brake clean on those injector seals, mani gasket, Idle screw etc.

Already exhausted the vacuum leak possibility. We even had the injectors cleaned, brand new seals, and all intake gaskets replaced. I have another set of plug wires I'm going to try today.

any luck? i'd check the resistance of the ignition wires instead of swapping out for another set...just a suggestion.

asides from that, ****...i'm not sure what else. If the coolant temp sensor is good, ignition is solid, fuel system is solid, vac systems are good...o2 sensor? check the voltage out?

also whats the ignition timing set too? it might be too low or too advanced...
