    Gear Stack swap

Is it possible to pull the gear stack and forks from the side of the transmission with it in the car and swap in a different stack? I've pulled a transmission once in these cars with out removing the engine and it was not very fun. If I can get away with just removing the gear set and replace it with a different one I would think I would not have to disturb much else under the hood.

No. The trans has to be out of the car to change gear stacks. And it's much easier to take the engine out with the trans attached instead of just taking the trans out.

Ya save yourself a royal pain in the ass and pull the engine/trans out in one unit. This is the easiest way if you're not comfortable dropping the vertical crossmember and dropping the trans from the bottom as the front bolts usually break lol. Plus you can refresh the engine with some gaskets much easier this way that in car...just my $0.02

I'll probably do that. It's a good excuse to buy a hoist. I really wasn't planning on keeping the car but maybe I will if I go through all this effort.

Sorta related, in my front radiator support on of the nuts that is welded inside broke free last time. Any real way to fix this. Basically the transmission crossmember only has one bolt in the front now.

Ive done a trans swap, awd, on stands in my driveway leaving the engine in but yeah... Its typically easier with a lift or just yars the whole dern thing out.

Cut a hole in the top and just put a regular nut there
