Need help!! Atx to mtx key wont come out of ignition

My buddy just picked up a car from my other buddy its a 93 KL swapped mx3... the car was originally an auto but its a manual now, and you cant physically turn the key to the off position.. im guessing is its because the car needs to be in "park"... so now i need to know what to do about this... anybody got a link or something to this fix?

there's a little sliding lever on top of the ignition cylinder that is activated by a cable from the automatic shift lever assembly... we just zip-tied it in the right spot on my wagon (sorry, I don't have any pics but if you take the column cover off it should be pretty obvious)

remove the steering column plastics and you'll see this cable (to the right, the one thats cut and bent in my picture) I cut the cable and bent it out of the way.

Couldnt find the cable... but found a switch and that we just pushed forward and ziptied and it worked..
