    My gt-r won't go pass 5000rpm :(

My engine cuts and I have now found that it always cuts at 5k rpm, in boost or not...it will even do it at idle. My GT-R gets full boost at 4.5k rpm... so no fun really for me... Do you guys know what I could look for to fix this?

My first thoughts : ECU / MAF / TPS... any other suggestions?

Check first if the gate in the airflow meter is moving properly.

Do you have a wideband sensor in this car?
-1993 Familia GT-R, 3" stainless exaust, 0.100" oversize Supertech pistons, ported and polished head, "hemi" style combustion chamber, Supertech 1mm oversize valves, megasquirt, 880cc low-z, MSD HVC, custom SS ramhorn turbo manifold, GT3076R ar.63, 25psi, 3" SS custom exhaust. Soon to be MS3X, COP and 28psi!
-2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X MR, AEM turbo inlet system, 3" magnaflow exhaust.
    -2006 Pimped Grand Caravan 3.8L GT40...I'm kidding, it's stock

The airflow meter gate seemed alright. I have a wideband...just not installed...

It has been like forever since I posted on here...

All to say I found my problem! Only took me all summer...

On JDM GT-R there is a sensor in the transmission telling the CPU that you are in neutral. When you are in neutral, your CPU will block your RPM to 5000k apparently...
Well that sensor is defective and it wouldn't let me go pass 5000k RPM in any gears...

After some research, I found out there's a wire you can cut from the CPU to permanently put this sensor to ground and remove the limiter...

I found the wire...and then cut the wire... and my car was BACK

I'm glad you fixed the issue! I'm honestly surprised no one here told you about that ground wire either, people have had the same issues with their GTX/Rs and that was a solution for getting past 5,000rpm.

It's only on the GTX and GTR cars specifically, not all have them though.

              apprently it's pin 1M, a ground.

I did not know this either. Apparently I've never tried to red line my car in neutral.

haha well it's the harness that has the pin anyways, so depending on the harness you'd be ok. It's easy to check either way...wonder what they title the ground though. The pin outs I have are all blank for 1M.
