I never use mine, and figured that I may as well try and just run a belt from the p/s to the crank. Anyone know the part # for that belt? I went to the parts store and got a belt from a DOHC 1.8 without a/c and it was a like 6" to short. They didnt have anything much closer to that. So does anyone know the part # if there is one??

Turn it into an straight away air compressor. Run air tools and such. At least that's what we do with Jeeps

I want to get my PS fixed (ok, my fiance wants me to fix it lol). My PS pump took a crap on me and locked up and melted the belt.1992 Mazda Protege DX

A p/s car with the belt removed is harder to turn than a manual steering vehicle. Since the fluid will still be in the system, everything should be ok. If you drained the system of the fluid, then you'd have lubrication issues.
